Sanará Tulum…the birthplace of the Sanará Way…

The first Sanará Sanctuary was birthed in 2014 on the idyllic shores of Tulum, Mexico, and allowed guests and visitors to connect with the essence of the Sanará philosophy. Featuring 19 suites and rooms, wellness centre & spa, a beach deck restaurant with an acclaimed menu, and a world-class yoga shala, the hotel received global recognition, both from guests and media, and was listed as #3 in the “Top 150 Greatest Hotels in the World” by Harper’s Bazaar, amongst other accolades.

During its 8 year operating period the hotel and resort was appreciated greatly by discerning guests who appreciated the exclusive, yet low key approach to wellness, and the impeccable attention to detail which allowed them to experience the property and its offerings at whatever level they felt drawn to. This resulted in repeat bookings year after year from a loyal following who trusted the care and attention that the brand and its team provided.

Sanará Tulum, and the conceptual wellness & lifestyle brand of Sanará was founded by husband and wife team, Charlie Stuart Gay and Daniella Hunter. The Tulum property was designed and built by Daniella and Charlie, in collaboration with a local architecture firm, Studio Arquitectos winning Gold awards for architectural design.

The rapid growth of Tulum, especially since 2020, however, created a trend towards overdevelopment along the beach hotel zone and a shift away from the discerning clientele which had been synonymous with the area. Coinciding with this change, the strategy to expand the Sanará brand into additional exclusive, and more immersive locations, predominantly in Europe, led to the natural culmination of the brand’s time on the beach and in November 2023, the brand transitioned from its beachfront birthplace, to venture into its next stage of evolution, into the UK, Europe and possibly beyond.
